I take things apart until they make sense.
Gearhead. Most weekends you'll find me under something β hood up, trouble light in my teeth, a torque wrench within reach. I like the honest kind of problem: the one that either starts or it doesn't. Turns out that's the same instinct that makes everything else I build work.
Under the hood
Service menuDiagnostics
Symptoms lie. Fault codes lie harder. I look for the cause you can point at with a greasy finger β not the part that happens to be cheapest to replace.
Wrenching
Oil, brakes, suspension, the alternator at 2am. Maintenance is nobody's idea of glamorous and it is the entire job. Torque it, then write it down.
Fabrication
Brackets, mounts, one-off parts. When the factory piece doesn't exist, the answer is a welder and a piece of flat bar, not a backorder.
Driving it
A car that doesn't run is a lawn ornament. Nothing counts as finished until it's back on the road and has earned its keep for a hundred miles.
Shop rules
Pinned above the bench- Measure twice. Torque to spec.βTight enoughβ is a guess, and guesses come back later as a tow bill.
- If you can't explain the failure, you haven't fixed it.Replacing three parts until the noise stops is not diagnosis.
- Cheap and correct beats fast and sorry. The $9 gasket and the $90 labour are always the same story.
- Write it down. The mileage, the part number, the date. The memory you trust is the one on paper.
- Clean tools, messy hands. The reverse of that is how bolts get rounded and tempers get short.
- The part you don't have is the part you need.Order it today. Nothing teaches patience like a car on jack stands.
In the bay right now
